What brought you to Derby? It was a combination of having fallen in love with roller derby a few years ago and being in a low point in my life and needing something to find myself, my strength and happiness again. I joined the assassins and it has been the most inspiring, challenging and best thing I have done for myself.

What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? I have sooo many! My first would be meeting some of the most amazing women I have ever met in my life. The second being the awesome stacks and bruises I’ve had.

How do you get psyched for a bout? I try not to think too much before a bout. I like to stay calm and don’t let the butterflies in my tummy take over, but I do love a good punch and smashing in warmup before a bout, its the best way to get your head in the game and there’s nothing like being hit by your best gals!

Who is your biggest Derby crush? Re-AnimateHer she is AMAZING!!!

What is Derby to you? Derby has become a huge part of my life without it I wouldn’t have overcome my challenges. I have a huge derby family who I love, my alter ego lets me face my fears and rolling around knocking your best gals over is great fun. I love a good derby stack and bruise with a high five when I get up, you won’t find that anywhere else.

What brought you to Derby? A rekindled romance with skating from my teenage years.

What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? Watching the more seasoned girls slap each other on their freshly inked tattoos I remember thinking... "wholy Fuck these girls are hard core . . I'm going to get eaten alive!"

How do you get psyched for a bout? I actually try to stay as calm as possible . . I feel like I can focus better.

Who is your biggest Derby crush? Internationally I crush all over Bonnie D.Stroir, Nationally I heart Dodge&Bolt, and locally I crush over H.M.A.S Destroyher, who I recently proposed to!!! (In a Derby Wife kinda way)

What is Derby to you? My second family, my home away from home.

What brought you to Derby? A dental patient I was treating at the time was telling me a story about her daughter who played this 'crazy' sport!

What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? Being in 'aww' of how fast the Queens skated.

How do you get psyched for a bout? I am new to bouting...the whole experience 'psyches' me out still!

Who is your biggest Derby crush? Re-AnimateHer in soooo many ways!

What is Derby to you? Derby is my 'empty nest' companion. My bestie friend and my personal trainer!

What brought you to Derby? Watching a documentary about the beginning of NBR in 2008 (while breast feeding)!

What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? Me and my wifey finally learning how to run out of corners on skates, and making a knee slide go forever!

How do you get psyched for a bout? Think about all the awesome people I’m going to be playing with and against.

What is Derby to you? Derby to me is the best sport EVER invented!

What brought you to Derby? The overwhelming feeling of homesickness from the U.K. as I felt a massive social void until I found the assassins.

What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? wanting absolutely no attention on me in my hour of totally stepping out my comfort zone. I was hiding in the back gearing up, slipping into the rest of the group, then this coach (derby goddess) Buzza skates over with a look of total comfort on her face, looks me in the eye and says, darling your helmet’s on back to front!!

How do you get psyched for a bout? By letting my loved ones ( team mates ) punch me whilst we warm up ...not the face ...not the face ...

Who is your biggest Derby crush? my new derby fiancé Lady Savage and Beyonnslay.

What is Derby to you? Wow where do I start, it's so much more than just the skating, it's the ability to surround yourself with a whole group of awesomeness a couple of times a week, fitness, great friendships, a lot of politically incorrect laughter and finding my own limits as to what I can achieve on a skating level. On a personal level, that junk in my truck is a good thing...! I love my Assassins!

What brought you to Derby? I went and watched a bout at Caloundra having no idea what derby was and thought "I was made for this shit" went out the next week and got some skates!

What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? Cracking the 25 in 5 for the first time.

How do you get psyched for a bout? Some crazy war paint and a hell of a lot of strapping.

Who is your biggest Derby crush? Only one.... Hmmm?

What is Derby to you? Derby is the best sport I've ever played! I love this shit. I love that derby brings together such a variety of people it is one of the few sports around that has a place for anyone.

What brought you to Derby? CARD started within easy driving distance. What is your best memory of being a ‘freshie’? Wondering, ‘When do I get to hit someone?’!

How do you get psyched for a bout? By training.

Who is your biggest Derby crush? Anyone who can skate and take a hit.

What is Derby to you? The best way to spend my time!

What brought you to Derby? I was working at Coolum tattoo and a flyer was put in the window looking for fresh meat. I went to the first info session, met Buzz and Dee-Dee and the rest is history!

What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? Finally upgrading my skates to ones that had rubber toe stops!

How do you get psyched for a bout? My first game Destroyher gave me a dead arm to amp me up.. N then the rest of the team followed! Ouch :)

Who is your biggest Derby crush? Re-AnimateHer looks pretty knarley - and of course my new Derby fiancé - Ink.Pom.FU

What is Derby to you? The best thing since sliced bread!

What brought you to Derby? I was talking with a friend over drinks one night and we thought it would be a great idea. We e-mailed that night for more info and here I am.

What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? Learning how to skate!!! I can still remember taking half an hour to gear up and then being too scared to skate up the little slope at Burnside.

How do you get psyched for a bout? I like to punch or be punched.

Who is your biggest Derby crush? Olivia Shottin' John from the Texas Rollergirls.

What is Derby to you? A sport that has introduced me to the most amazing people, while also allowing me to hit bitches on a regular basis.

What brought you to Derby? I watched a bout in Brisbane, and wanted IN!  So Dee- Dee and I thought lets bring this coastal, and we did...
What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? Falling around all over the place, laughing at how uncoordinated I felt! I loved falling…still do…
How do you get psyched for a bout? I’m usually awake at sparrows come bout day because I’m so excited! No real amp up necessary! For me it’s about calming down, and getting my head right, because so much of the game is mental. A bit of hardcore or old school punk usually does the trick if I’m lacking ‘the BUZZ”.
Who is your biggest Derby crush? The entire CARD league, and my gorgeous wives… Gush… ok so nationally, probably Rose Ruin, and internationally it would have to be Bonnie Thunders, what a freak!  So many RAD rollers, and skaters just keep getting better and better.  I mentor all sorts of skaters, watch them and steal their moves!!!
What is Derby to you? For me derby is a healthy mash up of sport and social. Its something I can continually get better at, so I wont get bored with it. Attention span anyone? It’s a place where we can gather and feel a part of something awesome. Derby is MAGIK!  Derby is the fastest growing female sport and its here to stay so ‘GET AMONGST IT!’

What brought you to Derby? The need to meet people, do some exercise and keep fit.  I didn’t know anything about roller derby and when I saw the freshmeat poster it seemed like fun. When I started I didn't think that I would ever want to bout!

What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? Being on skates and wondering if I would ever be able to do the skills without thinking about what my feet were actually doing.

How do you get psyched for a bout? I don't really, I try and avoid all the hype, I guess I just try and stay calm and focused.

Who is your biggest Derby crush? I don’t have a crush per se, but I am in awe of many skaters and the skills they have, particularly those that make it look so damned easy, because it is NOT!

What is Derby to you? Derby is the place where I feel at home, where I can go and be me and enjoy doing something that is good for me physically, mentally and emotionally, it is a great de-stresser. I’m not sure that I could live without roller derby any more.

What brought you to Derby? I have always loved skating and in recent years got into boxing as well - when I heard there was this new game you could play where you get to skate AND hit people (although not with fists haha) I knew I would love it.

What is your best memory of being a 'freshie'? My first time there at the info session day Princess Chaos broke her nose while training… also washing the Arthur St floor with Coke so we could actually skate on it!

How do you get psyched for a bout? I’m pretty psyched as soon as I wake up on bout day, no extra help required there!

Who is your biggest Derby crush? No one in particular, I crush on my team mates mostly. They are SO amazing, as skaters and also just as great girls to be around.

What is Derby to you? I have roller derby OCD, in a healthy way – except the nights when I can’t sleep from thinking about it!!
